I have marriage cert for Mary Jenion and William Tipping (14 July 1874), father given as William Jenion. I have the birth cert of Mary Jenion, b. 28 Jan 1851 in Huyton, Lancs., parents given as William Jenion (a pavier) and Jane Cowley. I got the marriage cert for William and Jane (14 July 1850), both given as full age. William's father given as Henry (a pavier), witnesses given as Henry and Mary. Name is given as Janion not Jenion on this certificate. |

Thanks LiverBird1. I've just checked it out but the spelling is Jennion and the marriage is given as 1853 - marr cert gives it as 1850. |

Thanks MaureeninNY, this is great. On William's marriage cert the witnesses are given as Henry and Mary Janion so they could possibly be his parents. His father is given as Henry. |

I would guess that as a pavier William would often work away from home which could be why he is not with Jane in 1851. I found these possible births of siblings for mary |

Thanks Maureen, it does look like the family - seems there's another spelling of the name. |

Just looking at these possible siblings for Mary. I think I'll send for the birth cert of one of them and see who the parents are. I think it's a strong possibility - I never thought of the idea of William working away from home. You guys are amazing. |

Thanks lancashireAnn. I have Ancestry and I just looked it up. It certainly looks a strong possibility. It does say Jane was born in County of Carlow (I think that might be Ireland) but the others match up. I've also seen that name Rushton (the boarder) somewhere before. I'll have to check if I have a note of it. |

I knew I'd seen that Rushton name before. I checked my notes and in the 1881 census there's a Jane Gennion (servant & widow), born in Carlow, Ireland, living with a Thomas Rushton (unmarried head of household) and there's an Ellen Tipping age 6, born Whiston, visiting. Now, Mary Jenion married William Tipping and they had a daughter - Elizabeth Ellen Tipping, born in Whiston in 1875, she was my husband's grandmother. |
