JACKSON: George Frederick, born 1818 in Belper, Derbyshire. Married Eliza JOHNSON, born 1825 in Ibstock, Leics, in the Parish Church Ibstock. These are my great grandparents. 3 children were born in Ibstock, to this family, William (born 1849), Thirza (born 1851) and George (born 1859). William is my grandfather, he and George married 2 sisters - William to Zillah Elizabeth HANDLEY and George to Sarah Cox HANDLEY. The latter two emigrated to Toronto, Canada in 1888, one child George WAS born in the UK in 1885. Their other 2 children, Stuart Handley JACKSON and Elizabeth Page JACKSON were born in Toronto. William and Zillah had 11 children, all born at 20 New Street, Grantham, Lincs., one of whom was my father, Louis Edwin JACKSON. George Frederick Jackson died in the workhouse in Market Bosworth in 1901. He was a widower on the 1881 census. I am trying to locate his burial place, as well as desperately trying to find out WHEN Eliza Jackson died, and where she too is buried. I have searched the British Death indexes many times, and have written several times to the Parish Church, without any success. I can only presume that Eliza was one of the thousands of 'entries' missed off the GRO Indexes, and that the parish register has not yet been turned over to the PRO. Eliza and George lived in the Ibstock and Market Bosworth area for many years, with a brief residence in Leicester, where I believe George Frederick had a business, as he shows in one of their Directories. The daughter Thirza was unmarried I believe and she died in 1883 aged 30. If anyone has any information on the deaths and burial places for both Eliza and George I would be very much appreciative.email me at [email protected] Thanks, Beryl Zillah Wilson (nee Jackson). |
