according to the 1891 census , sarah ward (married name) was born in bethnal green in 1854-5. In the 1871 census there is a sarah horton (maiden name) born in LAMBETH in 1854, could this be the same person. Thanking you in advance for any response.

Well of course it COULD be the same person - but it's probably really unlikely.

You need to find her marriage - or find her on a census with her husband and work back from there.

At the moment you're guessing ...

This MIGHT be the marriage, but honestly, without the birth cert of one of the children to confirm it, it's still guesswork ...

i thought that as boundaries change it might mean that either of them may be incorrectly named ( if that makes sense!). Its just that there is no other sarah horton on the 1871 census listed as born anywhere near bethnal green.

If that marriage is correct, they were both living in Bow when they married... maybe??

Oh Michael - why didn't you give her maiden name in your original post? I thought you didn't know her maiden name and was therefore guessing at who she might be!!!

No - don't worry Michael - it was just a bit frustrating. It does help to have the info first though ...

i honestly was expecting all the help and assistance ( which i am most grateful for). I was expecting a yes or no answer to my original question, which is why i didnt feel it necessary to divulge all the information i had. In hindsight, i shouldnt expect people to make assumptions/ judgements without knowing ALL the facts. Another lesson learned (or is it learnt?)
Thank you for everything

Yes, but one of the things you will notice on the help boards is that given the tiniest, minutest clue - we are off - like a pack of hounds after a fox! Because we all love the thrill of the chase!!
