hi, i'm trying to track down my partners family and her fathers mother's maiden name was hollyhead. he was born in shifnal, shrops and we beleive that his mother was mabel florence hollyhead born 1900. could anyone shed any light on the hollyheads and when they joined the bayliss family?

Hi........Have found MABEL F T HOLLYHEAD born 1900 Shifnal..who appears to be the illegitimate daughter of Ellen Hollyhead....I'll check this further.

Interstingly there is a Bayliss Family Tree on Ancestry...which mentions a Grace Hollyhead born 1898 Shifnal.....Unfortunately tight now Ancestry is playing up and not letting me search further.will get back to you.

The Bayliss Tree on Ancestry that i mentioned earlier gives GRACE Hollyhead 1898 Shifnal..1901 Census gives both GRACE and MABEL FLORENCE 1898 and 1900 respectively..I said that they were illegitimate....I did her a disservice....Ellen's husband unnamed is in 1901 on Voluntary Service in Africa.

I'll have a look at the 1911 Census for you


But the fact that GRACE HOLLYHEAD and not MABEL are on the BAYLISS Tree on Ancestry...suggest to me that your link betwen Hollyhead and Bayliss may be GRACE and not MABEL.

Ok..further to my previous not.have checked 1911..........

ELLEN HOLLYHEAD aged 38 born 1873 is married to THOMAS HOLLYHEAD aged 39 born 1872...a House Painter.

They have the following children........

GRACE Bernice 1899 a schoolchild
FLORENCE MABEL 1900 a schoolchild
ALBERT EDWARD 1904
CHRISTINA 1906
HARRY ROLAND 1907

Theye are living at 11 Park lane Shifnal

I have a clue that Florence Mabel married Thomas Bayliss in 1919..not confirmed.

Andrew.........have found the WW1 Army record for THOMAS HOLLYHEAD 1872 wife of ELLEN and father of the five children i have already given you.

It shows that Thomas married NELLY (Ellen) ROBERTS 09.11.1896 at Shifnal............his five children are listed with D.O.B.....and GRACE BERENICE is his Next of Kin.
Incidentally Ann of Green gables has given you the correct family on the 1881 Census..Thomas' parents were Thomas 1842 and mary A..and his brother JABEZ was witness at his marriage.
