Find Ancestors

Hi there,
this may be a bit of a non-starter but I reckon if any one can help then its you lot.
I don't have much to go on but I am trying to find the marriage between
Charles Alfred Hewitt and Elizabeth Agnes or Agnes Elizabeth Hewitt.
I am thinking it was around 1910-1915 as they had a son born 1915 in Ormskirk.
I'm sorry thats all I know.

Is it possible she just slipped and put her married surname on the birth certificate rather than stating her birth surname? It's certainly been known to happen.

Or ... might EA/AE Hewitt have been unmarried, and invented a husband for the occasion?

His given names might have been Charles Alfred, and his surname something else, if he had not agreed to be named.

That's also certainly been known to happen.

Do you have the son's marriage certificate, and does it name his father?

There are 3 other Hewitt-Hewitt births in Omskirk 1918-1928.

I have sent for the sons birth cert mainly to establish which way round his mothers christian names should be but looks like the marriage cert is going to be next.

I have set my niece the task of going through the box of family papers under her parents bed in the hope of finding them for me

I know, we seem to be one message behind each other. I found those 3 births and put the names to my b-in-law and he didn't recognise any of them.
That would be Joseph,Betty and a.n. other I hope

That's odd, you have to admit. There isn't one Hewitt-Hewitt marriage to be found, let alone two!

Trying to check the 1916-2005 marriage index at Ancestry, but it's gone into some sort of spasm and won't divulge anything at all ...

In 1911 They are living in Ormskirk although Samuel doesn't appear to be with them and he may have died or at 13 he may be working away. It's quite possible that they had another child in 1915.

Sadly. Possible death for Samuel J. They were living in Prestwich in 1901 so it seems more than likely that this is him.

Many thanks for all your activity overnight.

Astra am particularly loving the 1911 census details as I have been given sibling names of Jack,Alan,Vera and Shiela.
For some reason had expected all the children to be around the same age. You would think I would know better by now wouldn't you?
So now I just need to wait for Georges bc to confirm his mothers christian names and we may be on our way.
