I note that your birth was registered under both surnames indicating that your parents were obviously not married to one another at the time of your birth. Presumably however they were in a stable relationship at the time since your father would have had to be present at the registration of your birth. On your birth certificate how is your mother shown, as Hilda Hayhurst formerly (Another surname) or simply as Hilda Hayhurst?

What was the occupation of your father Walter Sugden indicated as on your birth certificate?

You mention another child. Were they born before or after yourself?

thanks to all that repleyd,on brth cert it states mother as simplt hilda hayhurst, father was a wool warehouse man,to say they were in a stable relationship is pushing it abit,i know they both had afew different addreeses as stated in the court documents i have and none of those are current ones,as for the marriage in 1955 yes of great interest,i am folloing up on that as that hilda hayhurst is alive and living in nuneaton,as for sibling, this child was in the care of social services when i was put up for adoption so unsure if male or female, but the leads from the marriage in 1955 have taken me to dicover a possible brother living in shipley, any firuther suggestions welcomed, thank you.

Jeanette, you have been given that info on your other thread which you really should not have started:

Jeanette,

Probably the easiest thing to do is if I post the information tendered by Jax on your other thread on to this thread. That will enable you to delete your other thread but still have all the information found. That will prevent anyone else commenting about you having duplicate threads.

Posted by Jax:

??

Name: Hilda Mauders
Death Registration Month/Year: 1964
Age at death (estimated): 49
Registration district: Bradford
Inferred County: Yorkshire West Riding
Volume: 2b
Page: 185

N.B. Only a copy of the certificate itself is likely to provide any further information about the deceased such as full address where death occurred, cause of death and who registered the death. Being a death certificate issued in England in 1964 it is unlikely to mention any previous names the deceased may have had/used.

Jeanette,

The volume number (2b) has been used for Bradford registration District (By the GRO, General Records Office) since 1947. Prior to that between 1852 and 1946 they used the volume reference number 9b. I can only assume that either the person that you spoke to did not fully understand what you were asking or that you did not fully understand the answer that you were given.

Under normal circumstances you only get to learn exactly what is on a certificate by purchasing a copy of the certificate. May I suggest that you contact the registry office in Bradford again. They probably will not recognise the number so simply ask if they have a death registered in Bradford of a Hilda Mauders or Hilda Madders in the April, May, June quarter of 1964.

If they have ask them how you can purchase a copy of it from them.

Alternatively you can order a copy of the certificate (Using the reference numbers) online from www.gro.gov.uk It will cost you £9.25 including postage from there.

jeanette

jeanette Report 11 Apr 2011 15:26

why do you quote the quarter as a-m-j ? is this waht it says against the entry of 2b 185 ? hope so because i have just ordered it from gro ?

Jonesey

Jonesey Report 11 Apr 2011 15:40

The year is divided into 4 quarters for registration purposes.

March Quarter = events registered during January, February and March

June Quarter = events registered during April, May and June (a-m-j)

September Quarter = events registered during July, August and September

December Quarter = events registered during October, November and December.

That Hilda death entry was registered in the June Quarter (a-m-j)
