Hello all,

As I had so much help in sovling my last problem, I thought I would try again!
Can anyone help to find the marriage OF Matthew Hatherall, born c1840, (Glos), lived in Brecknockshire for most of his adult life. I seem to have him as having 3 children, but possible all from different mothers.

I am not very good at this s help would be very much appreciated. I have his chidren's names as Lydia, Elizabeth and William, butnot sure if that helps!

Lydia was born c 1867 Brynmawr Brecknockshire Wales

Elizabeth c1880 same place

William c1890 Trealaw Wales

I think Matthew married a Jane Warner and that she is the mother of William.

However, Lydia is the grandaugher of John and Elizabeth Parsons and is shown as living with them in1881 census. Matthew is shown as a widower at that time.

Who on earth Elizabeths mother is I have no idea as I cannot find anythingon her but I am desended from her so she must be real!

1871 with Lydia?

As there are two Warner children younger than the Hatherall girl, the likelihood of Jane being her mother is almost zero, especially as Ruth Warner is the same age............

If 1881 census is the right Warner family, Jane was married at the time Elizabeth would have been born.

I can see no evidence that Matthew married Jane - not as unusual as one might think!

It might be worth looking for a possible death for her husband...............

I fear this is turning into an episode of Jeremy Kyle! (if you know what that is?) anyway, ....Why would Lydia have been recorded as a Parsons, then shown as a Hatherall with it's different spellings, in the census?

Is that usual/unusual? does it mean something?

Not sure about this one, from the scant info I have, and believe me until you helped it was scant indeed!..Matthew had a sister called Tabitha born c 1836. Thier parents names were Thomas c1805 and Elizabeth c1802 all born in Glos.

I don't know of any other siblings for Matthew and have no further info on hs parents other thn they came to Brynmawr to live at some point and Tabitha went on to marry a George Morgan
