i have found out some more info for myself but i am having problems finding a Marriage of Thomas B Harvey Born in Durham in 1950.

Two trees on Ancestry show Margaret Ellen Rutherford marrying a John Johnson Willis in 1916.

You do need to get your Margaret E Rutherford's marriage cert to Thomas harvey to work things out.

this may be Thomas Harvey born Easington Reg District 1895.

However I STRESS he may not be your Thomas Harvey; you need to get the marriage cert to check the name and occupation of his father.

The certs aren't cheap, but you do need to check you are following the right line. This Thomas may not be related to you at all.

Thomas Harvey is a very common name, and we have no idea of his age when he married Margaret E Rutherford, nor where he was born.

Margaret Ellen in 1911 census with her family. Her father is named Cuthbert, so may well be right, but you need marriage cert to confirm.

EDIT. The word transcribed as 'sister' is actually 'single' on the original.
Edit: Cuthbert and Margaret Ann Rutherford had 5 children born of their 18 yr (NOT 8 as in transcript) marriage, 4 still living at time of census 1911.

this is a possible birth for Margaret, but you REALLY do need to get that marriage cert to confirm, by finding out the name and occupation of her father. Two other Margaret Rutherfords were born in Easington area post 1890. So there needs to be some confirmation as to whether Margaret Ellen is a contender or not.

My only concern is that if your parents were together when your dad passed on, then there may be no point in getting the death cert, as your Mum would probably be the informant and it would tell you nothing about the other family.

So you might want to save your money.


EDIT: sounds as if Fairthorn has got it sorted for you already.

It was at the same time i have been told he was married to them both at the same time.thats why they remarried in 73.i know its confusing
