Halliday Pearson link

I'm looking for a link between the Pearsons and the Hallidays. One of my anscestors seems to have been born as Robert Halliday but later changed his name to Robert Pearson after his mother remarried (I'm guessing). I could be wrong about all of this but if you know anything about a Robert Halliday/Pearson or of any links between the two families I would be grateful to hear from you. They lived in the Stanley area of Durham in north east England.

Thanks,

Steven Jefferson
