Find Ancestors

Hi,

I'm trying to find any census (before marriage) or birth record for Selina Griffith, born c 1844 in Holyhead (?), Anglesey.

I know she is married on 5 January, 1863 aged 19 to a widower, David Roberts, and her address is Holyhead, and her father's name is John Griffith.

She passed away 1898 aged 53.

However, I cannot find a single census or birth record for her before marriage, which struck me as rather strange.

I would be grateful if anybody could shed any light on this?

What was her father John's occupation please and who were the witnesses at her marriage? (I am presuming you have the marriage cert?)

her father's profession is listed as "keeper" and the witnesses are Richard Williams and William Hughes according to the marriage certificate.

I can find her in subsuqent censuses after her marraiges (as Selina Roberts), but I cannot find her before marriage (Selina Griffith) in 1851 or 1861, or birth either.



I was hoping somebody else might have encountered this problem also?

Thank you, however, this is in 1881 and I have the record for her in that year. I'm having trouble finding her before her marriage in 1863 when she was still known as Selina Griffith (not her married name Selina Roberts).

I had looked at the Selina Jones in 1851 but she is still with her mother Catherine in 1861and 1871 so had discounted her

Doing a search for Selina in Holyhead in 1851 produces this one only on FMP

KEEPER: Controlled the quantities of ore and fuel, regulated the blast and tapped the molten metal from the furnace.

So maybe her father John worked in an iron foundry.
