Trying to find more information on my late husbands parent and family, he came from Cornwall his Mothers name was Philadelpha Perry and she married a I beleive a Joseph Gill a Tin miner and minister, they lived in Four Lanes Nr Redruth Cornwall Woluld anyone be able to help me please If it is of any help my husbands date of birth was 9/2/1931

Thasnk you Andre this is thecorrect age of my husbands father when he passed away but not for his mother as she passed away in 1998 apprx 92yrs allthough I find it very strange that there is a person with the same name as she was named after a boat that her father travled on

Looks like we need Philadelphia's father name, the witnesses on the marriage certificate maybe family members too???

Hi Ethel,

You can order online for certificates from The General Register, they cost £9.50 and take around 1 week to arrive. Or if you live close to the Redruth Registrars office you could get 1 from there.

The marriage certificate will confirm both fathers names, their occupations at time and like I said earlier, very often family members were the witnesses........ this can be a huge help.

Philadelphia just doesn't show up on the 1911 census, I can't see her coming into the country if she was born overseas, and I checked the 1911 Irish census just incase............. the only place left is Scotland??

You say Philadelphia was named after the ship that her father worked on.... do you know what he actually did on the ship?
