Trying to Find German

I need help, have reached that well known brickwall.
Looking for Stephen German, My GG grandfather Thomas' father,
Thomas married Margaret Scholey @ Manchester Catherderal on 27th February 1865. Her father was listed as William Scholey, printer and His father as Stephen German, Mason. The address on their marrage certificate is shown as Eccles New Road.
Thomas then went on to marry after he was widdowed and I also can not find record of Margarets death.
Additionally Thomas' second wife was already married when she married Thomas, then when her first husband died she then married Thomas legally some 10 months after her first husbands death.
I would love to find the answer to my quest, I want to see if there are more skeltons in my family cuboard,
