Sylvia offensive!!! I don't think so - she is one of THE most helpful people on these boards

For anyone wondering what on earth Sylvia has done to upset Madeline, she has suggested that it is highly unlikely she will find a living person on these boards who knows the people she is looking for. And as this particular thread is nearly 18 months old and nothing has come of it, that proves the point.

Sylvia has posted the same advice on another of Madeline's threads where she is looking for another living person.

It's good advice, given in good faith, and not overstepping any mark.

Sylvia has not said that it isn't worth a try, but there's now 4 pages of "nothing" on this thread, which means a lot of people won't bother to trawl through it.

So, Madeline if you still feels it's worth a go, it might be more productive to delete this thread and start another - with the information about the Colorado "find" and what became of it. And also add that you know it's a long shot, but you've tried all other possibilites e.g. Genes Reunited and Search Trees.

I've already suggested that

There are many, many success stories on here, and I have had several positive messages from people personally on here telling me of their own successes while searching for living people. Their overwhelming advice in all cases is a big, positive, NEVER GIVE UP. We have also had a very successful outcome fom the thread my sister-in-law posted on here, looking for relatives on my husband's side - and guess what? They are all alive!

To suggest, in not so many words, that anyone is wasting their time by posting a thread looking for a living person is utterly ridiculous. After all, this board's very name suggests that that is what it is for - people Trying To Find people. It is not exclusively for people searching for dead relatives.

SylviaInCanada may have been helpful to some people, but it is not at all helpful to say what she said to me, or by proxy, to anyone else reading it with similar ongoing searches, not only on one of my threads, but both, very different searches. It almost sounds as if she is trying to "clean up" this board of threads that she has taken upon herself to deem unworthy of being on here. So yes, that is offensive, and as I said before, I shall continue to post my messages for as long as I choose.

It is not up to anyone else how long anybody leaves a message on here for - this is a PUBLIC message board, open to everyone. There isn't a time limit, and what would be the point of only posting a thread for a certain time anyway - to enhance one's chances of finding the person they are looking for, it makes sense to leave their message on here for as long as possible and for as long as THEY THEMSELVES choose to.

Madeline: I strongly suggest that you remove all of your aggressively rude personal commentary from this thread. It is contrary to the rules of this site.
