I believe my branch of the Foy family came to this country from Ireland in the nineteenth century. My great great grandfather was Patrick Foy, his son was Richard Foy, his son was Thomas Foy. They lived in Ancoats and hired out horses and carts from the Rochdale Canal area.

Hi Brenda my wife father was Thomas Foy, his father was also Thomas Foy. I would guess that her grandfather would have been born about 1885-90.
He died at an early age in the late 20s the conection may be, he drove a taxi at the time of his death. Perhaps they had progressed from horse to car. We are not sure if it was the Ancoats area but my wife was born near to there on the Rochdale road.
