i wonder if anyone can help

i found henry fisher on 1881 census as father of eliza,
born middlesex london abt 1848


i am trying to find him further back but i've found a couple of possibles in 1851, both in similar areas of london / middlesex and similar ages..

one parents william and maria jane

the other parents henry and ann

i looked up his birth but no mmn listed

(found a marriage between william fisher and maria jane street in 1842 but couldn't find a marriage between the henry and ann

i think henry was at a school in islington in 1861..

im just stuck on how to find him a bit more definitively in 1851

mmn did not come into force until the end of 1911 !!

You will need to order his birth cert to be sure 100% of his parentage.

This is the only way to be absolutely sure

Small steps first.

Eliza seems to be known, so who were her parents?

The marriage certificate should give their fathers and so on...

( i have found one marriage between a henry fisher and an emma (coe) in 1865 (although this seems that they were very young ..

i can't find them in 1871 either

Coincidentally Emily Vine c1850 Sevenoaks father Joseph was a Master Chimney Sweep.

emily is a possibility i suppose .. although on the census she is called emma ..

In 1851 with her parents she is called Emily, in 1861 she is called Emma.

btw the other couple on that marriage page were a Silas Shrub and a Harriet who can be seen on the 1871 and later census, so that Henry did marry Emily Vine.

On the 1891 census he says his place of birth was Mile End.

That was in Stepney District, from freeBMD:
