Anyone who may have known Phyllis May Christodoulou nee Cherrett. Phyllis remarried first as SCOTT and then MCRAE.
George Christodoulou and Phyllis May Cherrett were married in Bournemouth, England on the 10th January 1940. (In this entry, the name is spelt CHRISTODOULON). George and Phyllis were living at 30 Bath Road Bournemouth when they married. They later lived at 42 Frederica Street, Kings Cross, London, which may have been a family home.
On August 1st 1940, George and Phyllis had a daughter Helen May Christodoulou. (In this entry George’s name is spelled Christodoulou) at this time, they lived at 382 Camden Road, Islington, London. N7.
In 1950, Phyllis had another daughter, Phyllis Theresa Christodoulou. (In this birth entry, George is listed as the father and his name is spelled Christodoulou). Phyllis Theresa was adopted. The address for Phyllis May & George on the birth certificate of Phyllis Theresa was, 1 Luxborough Street. London W1. It is believed Phyllis and George separated in 1948.
George remarried in the mid 1950’s.
Phyllis at some point after January 1950, went to Canada via the US. We do not know the exact year. It is thought that Helen went with her. Helen returned to Dorset but we do not know which year.
In Canada Phyllis May was first known as
Phyllis SCOTT at 25 McCamus Ave, Kirkland Lake, Ontario, Canada, and then as
Phyllis MCRAE at 6-225 East 3rd St, North Vancouver, Canada. (Confirmed by Anavets)
Initially Phyllis corresponded with relatives in England. We believe Phyllis died 2001/2 in frail care. Unfortunately at this time, we do not know the first names of the husband of Phyllis.
We have been told Phyllis May also had a son in Canada. His surname name may be McRae, Scott, Christodoulou or Cherrett I would very much like to find him.
An ancestry tree for an Ernest Scott (1897 – 1973) (born & died at Parry Sound) shows that he was married to an Olive Thompson and then a Phyllis Cherrett. The father of Ernest Scott was John Scott born in 1863. This may be the Phyllis related to me. The information on Scott was found on ancestry.co.uk.
Helen May Christodoulou married Graham BA Hern Jan/Feb Mar 1961. Sadly Helen died in 1970. Helen and Graham lived at 59 Petersham Rd, Creekmoor, Poole. Dorset, England. Helen and Graham did not have children. Helen and Graham may have spent some years apart.
It is known that Helen had a daughter, as relatives recall the child always accompanying Helen on family visits and was thought to be 6 – 8 years old at the time. We do not know the first surname of the child. It was not Hern. She may have been registered as Christodoulou or in the fathers’ name. The child may have been born before or after Helen married Graham. We know that Helen spent the "blitz" years living with relatives of Phyllis in the Bournemouth. Helens grandmothers name was Ellen Toms nee Cherrett (Ellen was the mother of Phyllis).
I am trying to find Helens daughter and the son of Phyllis May. I would like to hear from anyone who knew either Phyllis, her husbands, Helen or their children.
