Hi Kaye,

It might help to know more about the children born 1883/84, since children are slightly more likely to be named on passenger lists (if they travelled with her). Do you have any NZ records for those children?

Or is it that you have seen them in the UK with their grandparents?

Hi Kaye,

Have you tried passport applications on findmypast? There are 37 pages to view for Ade* surnames between 1877 and 1885.

Emma Augusta Perry from FreeBDM married Charles Adeney in 1877 at the age of 23 in Croydon. Between 1877 and 1885 was between the time she travelled from London to Wellington New Zealand, where she then married John Westland Marshall in 1885 in NZ.

I haven't been able to find the death of Charles Adeney in NZ or UK so are unsure under which name she travelled to NZ or if she did with travel with Charles. Would really appreciate any help with Passenger Lists. Would love some help trying to trace when she travelled to NZ, was it under the name of Perry or Adeney/Andree.

I have also found she used the 'Andree' name on her marriage certificate in 1885 to John Marshall in New Zealand. FYI her parents were George Perry and Amelia Perry (nee Norris) from Croydon.

It is strange because from the time of her marriage to Charles Adeney in 1877 she had already had two children a boy in 1884 and a girl in 1883 but I have not been able to find any birth records of these two children in the UK under the family names I have mentioned, was there an earlier marriage?? and what happened to Charles Adeney.

This is a curly one, hope someone has more advanced skills than me, cause I'm off to get some panadol, its been a big researching day with little result. Many thanks K
