im trying to find out the name of Alice cope's (b 1922 walsall england) mother, all i know about her so far is that her maiden name was Ellis.
Alice had 3 brothers, leonard, william and sydney. she also had 2 sisters irene and winnifed. we beleive their mother died when winnifred (who was the youngest) was around 3 months old.
any help would be greatly appreciated

im not sure about ada i have all the other ones, and they were in sheffield at the time irene was born. i was looking for their mothers first name thats where im stuck, i know her maiden name was ellis and she obviously married a cope, whos first name im not sure of either. i think she would have been born c1890 altho might be wrong on that

also we know that alice cope married a William Bradley and had 3 sons, Malcolm, Alan and keith, born in 1942, 1948 and 1950 respectively. we beleive that she was incarserated a few years after her youngest son was born, her husband then gave up his sons and moved away later marrying someone else (we think). It is also believed alice was murdered on her release from the mental insitution she was being held in.

i have just found it thanks. his name was george cope b 1889 and her mother was emily cope (nee ellis)b 1889.

hmm im not sure, she would have had to have been really young if she was married before, but i suppose nothing is impossible

was emily snape and george cope showing as having had those children i mentioned before? i may have it wrong, but have consulted other people who are related and they seem to have some up with the same?

ive just realised it could be agnes cope (nee ellis) born in 1892. they are both born in walsall

hmm i dont understand that then. ur theory about her being married before must be correct as i cant think of any other reason for it not being there lol. ill try to find out more
and hopefully somewhere along the way ill find something that points to whether she was married before

i have confirmed that she was called emily ellis born in 1891.i spoke to her grandaughter, they were married in 1910. thanks for all ur help! xx

There is a woman missing from the June 1910 marriages that Elouise found. On the complete index on Ancestry there is an Emily Ellis with the same volume and page number.

ah that must be why she couldnt find it. thanks potty!

It's also on Free BMD but the page no was not clear to the transcriber.

I think you will need to get the marriage cert for their father's names.
