After over 22 years hard slog and 12months easy flying on Genes, I'm now at the stage of having my Y-DNA tested to prove which lineage I do/do not come from. Looks like we descend from the Earls of Morton, but prior to 1733; possibly linked genetically to Robert Douglas of Lochleven, b. 1510. Another person has tested his DNA and a genetic distance of 2, over 12 markers only at this time, is evident. Contemporary records (Burke's or Debrett's Peerage; www.thepeerage.com, etc) show no missing branches - yet. |
