The surname Dollimore is derived from the many places in France called 'La Mare' meaning the pool. Early bearers of this name may have lived by a lake such as De Lamara or De La Mare and the earlist recorded are in 1130 and 1190 in the UK. Names were frequently misspelt in parish registers so variants would include Dollamore,Dollemore,Dolleymore,Dollymore etc. Many Dollimores connected to us originated from Herts and Beds in the 1800s. Please let me know if you think we have any connections Regards Colin Dollimore
