Trying to find out what happened to cousin Peter when the family lost touch c 1960. As we were children, we were not involved in the events that caused the rift, so it would be great to see if we breach any barriers. There was some talk that Peter's father, Edwin, went to New Zealand or Australia (he was a farmer), but I don't know whether this is fact. Maybe Peter stayed with his mother, Joan? Edwin was the son of Arthur Alfred Dick and was born 1919 in Hitchin. He had one older brother, Philip (my father) and a sister, Hilda.
Any information would be gratefully received

Any dates? Place(s) where Peter might have stayed with his mother?

Odds of Peter seeing this would seem slim, but somebody might be able to point you to ways of finding him, with a little more info!

Not sure. Originally they lived in Essex/Suffolk, I think. Joan had friends/contacts in the Guildford area of Surrey. Not much to go on!

There are several Edwin Dick-s in the death index for 1984-2005:

Edwin Frank Dick 1 Jun 1919 May 1998 78 Eastbourne Sussex

William Edwin Dick 13 Nov 1915 Sep 2002 86 Louth Lincolnshire

Edwin John Dick 9 Jun 1914 Jan 1990 75 Coventry Warwickshire

Edwin Charles Dick 27 Feb 1927 Mar 1990 63 Bromley Kent

Harry Edwin Dick 10 Sep 1943 May 2005 61 Tameside Greater Manchester

but only one born in precisely 1919:

Name: Edwin Frank Dick
Birth Date: 1 Jun 1919
Death Registration Month/Year: May 1998
Age at death (estimated): 78
Registration district: Eastbourne
Inferred County: Sussex
Register number: A72E
Entry Number: 56

Might it be him?

Just a possible starting point -- of course he could have died before 1984 or after 2005, or still be alive.

If you thought that was him, the death cert could give you information about address at time of death and family.
