My Grandmother, Maud Vincer (as on mothers birth cert, but on marriage cert , Alice M De Vencer) is proving to be very elusive and I would appreciate any information that anyone might have.
She married Arthur J Bastable in 1911. They had 10 children incl. Ada, Mabel, Edward, Constance, Gladys, Florence, Arthur, Sidney, Albert and Edith.

Unless Karen comes back with info from the marriage cert, it's all rather a waste of time.............

 Lindsey*

Lindsey* Report 18 Jun 2010 18:03

ah well I've got plenty of that !

Karen

Karen Report 20 Jun 2010 17:55

Thankyou all so much for your replies and help. I seem to be having trouble with the surname as the marriage cert is in the name of Alice Maud De Vencer. The mothers surname on their first child was De Viner and then all subsequent children has the mothers surname as Vincer.
My mother used to often refer to her 'nanny Vincer' but sadly we knew very little about my grandmother as she died when my mother was quite young.
They definitely lived in the Woolwich area as that was where my mother grew up.
I will definitely look into all the information you have given me and thank you again

Regards
Karen

I'm sorry I didn't get back earlier but I'm afraid I work shifts and don't always get the opportunity to get on here. I apologise if you think I am wasting your time but I am at present waiting for marriage cert to arrive. As I said before I thank each and every one of you for the information you have left for me and I am looking into everything.
Regards

no problem, was she the same woman who married twice ? or have I got the wrong end of the stick?

Karen

Karen Report 23 Jun 2010 11:17

It is something that certainly went through my mind when I saw the information so am looking into that too. Seems hard to think that she would leave 2 very young children though but of course we dont know the circumstances. Getting very addicted now to this and getting very frustrated when I have to stop and go to work! Thanks again
