If you mean ancestry, then buy his marriage cert to Emma and you will have his fathers name and occupation, from there hopefully you can move backwards through census and certificates. |

Are you saying that Ronald was born in Grimsby or married in Grimsby? I didn't think marriage certs had place of birth. |

As you will see I am new to this research, but have had some good replies and info, we were led to believe that Ronald was born in 1886, but his marriage details we have had posted tonight put him as 22 in 1906,also we have now got a Ronald William and a Ronald Herbert, both born in Huddersfield, one 1884 and one 1886 according to the birth records that I have checked., yet we do not seem to be able to find them on the 1891 census, nor can we find Emma Maud Mercer on 1891 census. Maybe its because there is a Caistor in Lincs and another one in Norfolk. I will keep looking Ozibird , and thanks for your help. regards Viv. |

Viv, what you need to do is pay to see the original of the 1911 census. This will give their places of birth. Ronald may have been registered in Huddersfield but not necessarily born in the town itself. |
