I am trying to find information on my G.G.Grandfather Matthew Davison and his wife Margaret. He was born c 1805 in Belford Northumberland, was a brewer and came to live in Felling Co Durham where he ran the Collingwood Inn. I have him on the 1841&1851 Censuses but have been unable to find anything on his Birth, Marriage, or Death. He had several children including George (my G.Grandfather)1832, Margaret 1836, Matthew 1834, Phillis 1837, Henry? 1838, (name unreadable on 1851 census) 1844, & John 1849. I have fairly solid information on my own descent from Matthew but cannot find anything earlier or his wife's maiden name He seems to have occasionally had his name spelled Davidson. George

Hello Cousin
George Davison (1831) was my G Grandfather via his son George (1864), & his son George (1910).
Matthew's wife was Margaret Bell b 27/6/1804 in Alnmouth, the daughter of Josiah or Joseph Bell and his wife Mary. Matt& Margaret were married at Bamburgh on 14th May 1831. The unreadable name on the 1851 Census is probably Thomas. I too have been unable to find anything about Matthew's parentage. You can contact me direct at [email protected]
