Great grandfather left Ireland during the the Irish famine (circa 1850) and joined the British army. Posted to India, where he and his wife had three sons. My grandfather (Peter) met his wife (also from an Irish family) whilst in India, having also joined the British army. they had two sons and a daughter in India, then another son (my father, Benjamin) and daughter born in England. My son Laurence is the last male in this family line. My brother, Ben, hasn't any children. The only other male in this line died in the fighting in Holland, in 1944, two months before I was born. His name was Walter. My great grandfather's two brothers, died without leaving any heirs, to my knowledge. I believe their names, were John and Michael. |
