Trying to find info on John Thomas Crane b 1891 in Widnes Lancs-parents-Daniel Crane & Ellen Sunderland-.-believe he came to Australia abt 1910 & m abt 1918-his wife was either from a German family or had a German sounding name

Hi Brenda. I am not connected but had a look for you.
I cannot help re living in Australia but think I have found the right family on the 1901 census, although, for some reason John Thomas is not shown. see what you think.

Marriage of Daniel Crane to Ellen Sunderland. 1891. April/June Qtr. reg in Prescot. Lancs. vol 8b 1003.
Copy of this certificate will give their ages, their Father's names and occupations, and witnesses who may be siblings.

1901 census.
Daniel. 39. 1862. Born Ireland. Living Manchester.
Ellen. 29. 1872 Born England??
Daniel 6 1895. Born Widnes.
Mary L. 8. Born Widnes.

Birth of a John Thomas Crane. 1891. July/Sept. Qtr. reg in Prescot. vol 8b 648.

As John appears to have been born soon after the marriage they possibly still lived in Prescot area, and then moved to Widnes????

The only way to be sure this is the right one, is to apply for a copy of the birth certificate with the proviso that Father is Daniel and Mother is Ellen.

try searching www.lancashirebmd.org. there is a john t crane registered in 1891 at Widnes. the registers are at Halton Register Office. http://www.lancashirebmd.org.uk/cgi/pba.cgi?date=1891&county=lancashire&reference=HA%3aWID%2f66%2f19&file=C&pos=139760&area=HA is the link to the form to order the birth certificate.
