Iam trying to find parents of Thomas Cottis b. 1799 in Maldon area Essex. Also possible marriage date his wife is Ann Cadman b. 1808 Essex, their first born was Thomas Jnr b. 1823 in Goldhnager, Essex. Either entry would give me at least one name. Can anyone help ? Iam going in loops and have tried many sites.
Thanks Chrissie

A tree on Ancestry has Thomas Cottis born 1799, Tolleshunt Major, Essex, son of Thomas Cottis & Mary Raven but this Thomas Cottis is married to Harriet Chaplin.
They do have a son Thomas though born 1823, Easthorpe, Essex.

This is the 1841 census for that Thoma Cottis & Harriet:
Little Totham, Essex
Thomas Cottis, 40, labourer
Harriet, 30
Thomas, 15, labourer
Daniel, 13
Caleb, 13
Anna, 6
All born in county.
Remember that on the 41 census ages of those over 15 are rounded down to nearest 5 meaning that Thomas jr. could have been 15-19 making him born 1822-1826.

Thanks for that but I can confirm that my Thomas married Ann Cadman and I have in my possession both their names on a birth certificate for one of their sons. They did have a son Thomas born 1923 but he was born in Goldhangar, Essex. I will though check if he re-married.

Christine, I think Ann got that record from Familysearch. If you type in Toms Cottis, birth 1823 but no country it comes up. Caution though it's a submitted record. If you find it you can click on "Submission search" to find other Cottis's. There are hundreds!

Margaret,

Thanks, I know what you mean I have been on that site already, just takes time weeding out the parish of birth.
