Trying to find Cooper

I am trying to find out more about my grandmother Mary Alice Cooper. I know she was born in Stalybridge around 1908 to Mary Elizabeth Cooper. She was illegitimate and we believe the Henry Cooper on her birth certificate was her grandfather. I have found a family on the Census which I believe is the family of Mary Elizabeth Cooper. Her mother was also a Mary and she had a number of brothers and sisters including a Lena Cooper and a Horatia Cooper. This could be a complete blind-alley but we know that my grandmother did have an Aunty Lena so it looks good. I would particularly like to know who Mary Elizabeth's mother was. I don't think I am ever going to find out who my grandmother's father was although there are rumours of someone Irish. Any help gratefully accepted. |
