Information please on the family

Got the marriage cert of James Coates married Helen Gooch in 1939,but would like to find out some information on James family like his parents or any sibling ,i have his address as 55 Brodwick Road Wandsworth ,but not sure if that was the family home his Dads name was George Coates ,merchant seaman deceased would that be the Merchant navy i wonder,thank you for any help you can give

there are 2 George Coates on the 1911 census living in Wandsworth it is possible the younger one is the father of James. he was born 1894 and the George Coates who could be his father was born 1862

sorry dont have the 1911 census to find out more

there is a marriage in Wandsworth between George Coates and Esther J Verrell 1Q 1917

forget that I cant find a birth for a James with mother surname of Verrell

There are several records on 1901 for James Coates born 1896+/- 1yr

This is the only one of them which could be 'yours'..........if the father's name he gave was accurate - all the rest are with their fathers - none of whom is named George

Hi I`ve checked too..many hands make light work as they say...James`s parents were George Coates & Lucy Day..married Dec 1895 in Middlesborough..the people James was with on the 1901 census in Middlesborough were his aunt & uncle...Mary Ann Pearce was Lucy Day`s sister....will try to find out what happened to her...ok

On his wife death cert he has middle name of Joseph and his occ was Custodian,Ministry of works 97,Robinson Road Mitcham S.W17
But middle name is not on marriage cert

I`ve been trying to find out what happened to James`s mother Lucy but cant find anything at the mo...have checked deaths..marriages...electoral register...but will have another look..ok..

He may only have been there for a few days.........the only requirement for the census is that the person spent the night in question in that place

Hi..Just found a death entry for a George Coates aged 41 in Wandsworth..maybe that would explain why James was living with his aunt & uncle...look on freebmd....still no sign of Lucy though...
