Trying to locate Ellen Clisham...

Paul Report 6 Oct 2007 16:35

Evening,

I've been trying to find any evidence of my Great, great grandmother Ellen Glue a for a couple of months now...to no avail. the only documentation I have on her are her 1876 Hampshire Marriage certificate to John Clisham and her listing on the 1891 England census.

Other than this, I can find nothing...no birth cert, although there is a possible 1858 birth in Hampshire for a 'Female' Glue (Not got round to buying this yet though....was hoping to maybe find something else which may help before I shell out on such a vague cert!).

Can not find her on the 1891 or 1871 Census either. I know her husband John was in the army, and they moved between Jersey and Ireland between approximately 1876 and 1880 going from the births of her three children.

The marriage cert lists her father as William Glue, who was a Tailor. Again, I can find no trace of a William Glue who was a Tailor!!

I have a potential re-marriage date for Ellen Clisham to Charles Peacock in 1909, after the death of John in 1894 (She's the correct age too, based on her first marriage cert and entry in the 1891 Census), and a subsequent entry on the death index in 1912.

Might anyone be able to help shed some light on this elusive line of my family tree??!!

Regards

Paul
