the problem about Mr Clarke

My wifes father Williiam Richard Clarke seems to have hidden
his family identity, he appears to have been born abt 1891-93
his father was called James,a family story has it that james was
a publican in Selly Oak a suburb of Birmingham. Richard had a
falling out with his father and joined the army, Royal Berkshire Regt No 10847, it was about this time that he changed his christian names to William Richard,
He landed in France on 25/7/1915,he married May Halford on
29/6/1935 in Stamford Lincs and they had a daughter Patricia
on22/12/39, he died in Skegness 8/10/1946.
If anyone THINKS they might have some info re this man it
will be very much appreciated.
