Hi,am trying to find any info out about my granny and grandad..then hopefully work my way back from there. My granny was called Edna Grey and she was born in 1919 i think. She married my grandad George William Charlesworth born 1911,though have no dates for the marriage. They lived in Gainsborough..possibly Burns street.I know nothing about them..brothers or sisters of them are a mystery to me.They had 10 children including my mum.I would be gratefull if anyone could PLEASE help with anything regarding them.I am so new to this i have to dry behind my ears on an hourly basis! Thanks,Dawn.

Finding no birth for Grey in Gainsborough between 1915 and 1928, some for Gray but no Edna. Could this have been a middle name? Do you know her mother's maiden name?

Here's the death entry:

Civil Registration event: Death
Name: CHARLESWORTH, Edna
Registration District: Lincolnshire
County: Lincolnshire
Year of Registration: 2005
Month of Registration: March
Date of Birth: 17 January 1919
District No: 6091J
Reg No: J2D
Ent No: 299
DOR: 0305

Still can't find a birth either Grey or Gray and nothing for George. Are you sure they were born Lincolnshire?

When did they marry? If you don't know, when was the first child born?

Regards

Am trying to find out dob for oldest child.I always thought they were from, lincs but iam double checking. My grandad died when some of the kids(there were 10..though 2 sets of twins) were quite young so they don't know much, and my granny was a lovely sweet person who never said a word barely about anything personal. Will keep trying for as much info as i can,and see where it gets us when i get it.Thanks so much for trying, really appreciate it.

Hi Dawn,
Nothing new to add except these two births which weren't there last time I looked. They've been newly transcribed and maybe your grandparents haven't been transcribed yet.

Let us have the names of some of the 10 children - we could look for them to find oldest and work from there.

Found the marriage:

Sept qrt - 1937

Charlesworth George W - Gray Edna - Gainsbro - 7a 2402

You could really do to get this certificate, it will hopefully give ages, occupations and addresses as well as their fathers names and occupations.

Hi Dawn

These are the details you need to order the cert from the GRO.

http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/

Select marriage cert.
When it asks 'Is the General Register Office Index known?' make sure you say 'Yes'
Year = 1937
I normally only use one spouses name - Charlesworth George

Fill in Reference information from GRO Index

Year 1937
Quarter* July Aug Sept
District name* Gainsbro
Volume Number* 7a
Page Number* 2402

Delivery service standard (cost £7) normally 7-10 days.

Make sure you double check the info before paying as the GRO don't refund if it's your error!

Let us know the details when it arrives :-)
