I've come against a brick wall with my Chapman ancestors. Do you know any of the following people? My Great Grandfather, William Samuel Chapman was born on the 9th September 1911 at 15 Sidney Street, West Ham. He died in 1993 in Gravesend, Kent. His father was Samuel Chapman a Merchant Seaman and his mother was Florence Chapman formerley Charrington. I have been unable to find a marriage certificate for his parents or locate them on the 1901 census so I'm now stuck in a rut. I have been told by an aunt that Samuel may have died at sea when William was a boy. William married Annie Agnes O'Neil in October 1931 in West Ham. He gives his address as 134 Mortlake Road, West Ham. On the Electoral Registers for this year, there is an Elizabeth Mary Ann Chapman living at the Mortlake Road address. This could be an important link. Do you know who she is? Do you know my Great Grandfather or his parents? If so, I'd love to hear from you! |
