Trying to find Chapman

Henry Charles Chapman 1875-1949 Trying to find more information about my maternal Grandfather. I've been told that during WW1 he used to help transport horses to France (presumably these were 'gun horses' or were for some other use in the conflict). I have few relatives that remember Henry Charles, and his children are mostly deceased themselves now.. If anyone knows any more about shipping horses, the names of any ships, the ports they'd have used, or what the job was called that entailed doing this, I'd be very grateful! Futher pointers to get more information I can provide is that Henry married a Kate Brock of Nempnett, Somerset in 1902, the same year my Grandfather was born. They were married in London but I'm not quite sure how they met. (Kate had been 'in Service' but I've not found her in London in 1901.) They went on to have many more children and in 1923 were living in Augusus Street, Camden. I'd be interested to know about Henry's origins as I can find several potential matches on the 1901 census, but none are certain.
