Hi there,trying to fill potential missing link in my tree.G/g.father was Robert Chapman,b.Titchfield,Hants,21/12/1849-d.25/12/1939,Reading, ,Berkshire.In 1895 he married in Reading ,Harriet Sharpe ,b,24/12/1854-d.9/4/1931.Prior to this they had three children-Emily Mary,b.28/3/1884(emigrated to Australia).Robert Frank ,b.1886 & Gladys,b.1891-d.17/10/1949. Amongst other siblings i have a letter from Robert\s brother,John W.b.circa 1863 written to a solicitor.John\s address at the time was Halstead,Sevenoaks.In this letter he states that'A warrant is still in force against him for desertion' The inference of the whole letter is that Robert was married before starting afamily with Harriet. My quest is ,dear reader,who was he originally married to& were their any children.If so, i have relatives that i am not aware off. (i forgot to say that Gladys was my grandmother. Would be so grateful if any one has any info,thanks,Alan Chapman |
