Could the name De Burgh have been his mothers maiden name. |

William Chapman was born in 1840 and baptised at St Marys, Bishophill Jnr. in York. He changed his name to De Burgh and took the title of Count, between the age of 40 and 50. He died 8 March 1901 aged 60. He was living at Brinkworth Hall, Elvington in Yorkshire at the time. All his adult children adopted this new name despite being baptised Chapman. |
