My grandmother was Lillian Selena Cantrill, born Dec 10, 1891, at Leicester, Leicestershire. Her fathers' name was William (H ?) Cantrill. I can't find accurate information about him, other than he was born around 1866, and his spouse's name was Elizabeth Jenkin or Jenkins. When my grandmother was married, at Regina Saskatchewan, Canada, on Dec 18 1910 to George Henry Lincoln (b Aug 21, 1886 d July 15, 1960, Vancouver BC Canada), her maiden name was listed as Lillian Selena Maude (I have a certified copy of the marriage certificate.) I don't know the reason why but do know that a Walter Maude, and son Reginald are listed as relatives in our family tree. Any information about these family members would be helpful. |

In reply to an earlier question, adoption unlikely I don't think there were official adoptions until the 1920s. Looks like he was her stepfather, but it was not unusual for the children to adopt the stepfather's name - have come across it many times in both my own tree, and searching for others. |
