I am trying to find out as much information as I can on my surname Callinan; my name is Christina Callinan. I know my Grandmother & Grandfather came from Limerick, Eire. My Grandmother's maiden name was Crotty, Chris Crotty. I also know that she was known as Tina Hickey at school; Tina being short for Christina (I was named after her) and Hickey was her Mother's maiden name-apparently it was a tradition in Ireland to be called by your Mother's maiden name during school years? The address was Fitzgerald's Cottages, Limerick; don't know if they are still there? Any information, or conections to the Callinan surname, not just in Ireland would be very interesting, Thanks.

Hi

My father's family came from Limerick Ireland from a place called Patrickswell. My fathers name was Richard, his father was called Thomas and his mother Bridget (nee Coffey, i think). His brothers were James, Michael, Padraig, Gerald and Thomas and his sisters were Ann and Cathleen. My mother lost touch with them when my father died in 1972. I was eleven years old then. I have been trying to trace them again for many years now.
