She definitely married Herbert Mardle as he is my paternal gt grandfather and my father has details of all the family on this side but there has always been a stigma with this Jane Ellen/Jessie Burrows. She had an illigitamate daughter called Jessie in 1901 and went to live with her sister in Chobham when her daughter was born.

Her parents I believe are Edward Burrows/Elizabeth Keen and she had 13 siblings.

I have found her as Jessie Burrows and had a daughter of the same name. On her daughter's birth certificate she was named as Jane Ellen.

I am just unsure now of her proper birth name and how I can find out more about this picture. She married Herbert Mardle in 1903 in Luton.

Take it you don't have her marriage cert? Could do with father's name.

GB - that's why I said the Salford birth didn't seem to be the right place.

Not much more can be done without some input from Lindsey.

There are two marriages for a Jane Ellen Burrows: Salford 1905 (so that seems to rule her out likely) and Burnley 1884 (totally wrong date and place).

I thought that Chobham was in Surrey

Is this her? No idea where Kings Walden or Chobham are!!

That's the only birth with that name around that time, but the place doesn't match at all.

What is it you're looking to know -- parents and siblings?

The birth certifictae will say. Or Lancashire BMDs or baptism info (at Ancestry) may have the parents' names.

My Gt Grandmother was born Jane Ellen Burrows but was known as Jessie in c.1881 Kings Walden or Chobham areas. I have a photograph of her that puts her at the St Paul's Kings Walden estate working as a servant. I have emailed Simon Bowes Lyon but unfortunately he is unable to trace either of the names.........I don't know which way to turn now as I do not have any family members left who knew her.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
