I'm trying to find out more about my great-grandfather Thomas Burgess (born around 1850). He is listed as a Bargeman on my grandfather's (Joseph William Burgess) marriage certificate. My grandfather was born in Hemel Hempstead in 1875, but I can find no mention of Thomas Burgess in any census. I'm not even sure where he was born, since he might have lived on the Barges. Anyone any ideas where I might start looking as I've reached a dead end? |
