Find Ancestors

I have purchased the birth certificate of Ellen LC Cameron dob 12 Aug 1891 born Araluen, NSW. Her mother Ellen Cameron (nee Buckley) Father not mentioned. I have also the death certificate of Ellen LC Hamley dod 17 May 1946, this states that her father was Daniel Cameron, seaman and mother Ellen Buckley. I then purchased the marriage certificate of Daniel and Ellen found that Daniel was born in Scotland and Ellen in Araluen NSW, the parents for Daniel are John Cameron, Joiner, wife Isabella Rankin (i think) and parents for Ellen are William Buckley, Mariner and Ellen Higgins. I have been searching the NSW bmd and have found a few names which might be siblings of Ellen. Eliza dob 1857 in Sydney, James dob 1858 born in Sydney and John dob 1863 in Braidwood, which down near Araluen the birthplace of Ellen. If anyone can help with any information on this family I would very much appreciate it.

Do we know how old Daniel is, or when he came to Oz?

All information I have entered is from marriage certificate of Daniel Cameron and Ellen Buckley. I do not know his dob or when he arrived in Oz.
I thank you for your help and yes I think you are on the right track, but I am looking more for the Buckley side of the family as they are a direct descant to my husband and I am doing this research for him while he is away working.

I can't help much on the Oz side although I live in Queensland, I've not had any ancestors here. They're all from the UK. So no need to have access to records.

Is your husband a direct descendant of Ellen, or just one of her family?

If he's a direct descendant of Ellen, he has to be a direct descendant of John Cameron too. If you want more census info on that side - Cameron/Rankin - just ask.


Also you need to ask for someone to check the electoral roll for the early 1900s and later. They should be able to find Daniel, Ellen & Ellen jnr.
