WILLIAM BUCKLEY is my lost cause, He was born c.1860. In 1882 he was in Plymouth at 17, Octagon St from which address he married Mary Jane Smith. In 1887 they have a daughter named Florence Maud. The marriage appears to have petered out at some point thereafter. Cert's for 1882 and 1887 have him in the Royal Navy. I don't know where he was born but his father's name was Patrick Buckley. Heresay has it that Wm. had family connections in London - something to do with a small business or factory (sweetie factory , possibly? ). He also had some connection with Beachyhead,Sussex, possibly coastguard or lighthouse service or perhaps customs and excise ???? He appears to still be alive in 1909 when his daughter marries in Plymouth, by which time his occupation is entered as gen. labourer. His father was Patrick Buckley - origins unknown -could be Irish as so many Buckleys are!!! This is all I know and every avenue I try, comes up with a dead - end Any insight would be gratefully received- Shirley
