Greetings from across the pond. I am tracing my father's family of Browns who, I believe came to the colonies from England, perhaps Gloucestershire. Not sure. I have gone as far back as the 1700s. The first names here are birth records for the children of John and Hannah (Elwell) Brown in 1722 and Elisha and Hannah (Gardner) Brown in 1726. Not sure which is the ancestor. Forenames for both men are ones that run in the family down thru the centuries. If this corresponds with anyone elses family tree that far back, please contact me. Many First Family names here I notice there. Such as, Wood, Parsons. Other first names here (in Gloucester, MA, USA) are Elwell, Gardner, Pulsifer, Good, Goodhue, Row (Rowe), Lowe, Edes, Saunders, Rose, McLeod, Marchant, Robinson, Wonson, Niles and many more. Gloucester has an Archives Dept. at City Hall and records were very well kept. This is true of most of Eastern M area, such as Boston and vicinity. Happy to trade assistance. Early town names here are Plymouth, Weymouth, Quincy, Dorchester, Somerville, Cambridge and many others. Danette Brown ga |
