Alan Report 3 Apr 2011 17:53

Thomas Edwin Brooks was born somewhere in Staffordshire c.1835. My wife's father, Thomas Edwin Brooks was born in Ilkeston, Derbyshire in 1913. He was the only boy, and the last in the family. He had about five sisters.
Could anyone help me find where the senior Thomas Edwin Brooks was born as I am banging my head against a brick wall, and it hurts!

Alan, we'll have a look but, meanwhile, could you delete your duplicate thread (it seems to have posted itself twice!)

What was the name of his son, your ancestor?
Thanks

Can you confirm the Thomas Edwin Snr's year of birth? Based upon what you have indicated he would have been approx 77/8 when Thomas Edwin Junior was born. Not impossible but unlikely I would have thought.

There are quite a few Thomas Brook(s) in Staffs around that age (c1835).

Who did he marry?

According to a tree on Ancestry Thomas Edwin b1913 was the sone of Thomas Edwin Brooks and Ada Henley.

Very scant information and no dates or sources.

EDIT: Can't see a corresponding marriage.

Alan - what certificates have you got for your father-in-law? Birth, marriage or death? What were the names of his siblings?

I think there's something off here - perhaps dates wrong or a generation missing.

Alan needs to come back and answer queries.
