i am doing this research. for a cousin. Ernest Edward Barnes .b.1906 would have been her late father in law. talking to an elderly relative
she thinks his parents were poss William Barnes. and mother
Alice.nee Avis. as you have given this info to us ,his baptism.
we know he ended up living in hampshire [now dorset] aged poss 4/6yrs? with his mother and elder brother. and he ernest married a Annie Mary Tett. b. dorset. we beleive his father died in london when the children were very young.
poss alice came to hampshire to be in service?

Thought Sidney might have been William's brother, but there is no William in the household with Sidney's family in 1871 and 1881

All of which now indicates that the 1901 /1891 census info I posted is the right family

It does not, however, help with the maiden name for Alice, as they state that they have been married for 15 years - although that, of course, may not be strictly accurate.
