Site has been updated again,
Essex cemeteries

London Borough of Islington
Islington and Camden Cemetery Services, Islington Cemetery, High Road, East Finchley, London, N2 9AG

Approximately 1,000,000 burial and 54,000 cremation register records are expected to be made available over a period, with a mixture of register scans and computerised records. Maps showing the exact locations of graves and digital photographs of headstones are also expected to be added. Initially approximately 70,000 records have been placed online from Hampstead and Trent Park cemeteries. The other cemeteries are Islington and St Pancras, which share a large site with around 900,000 burials. The Hampstead and St Pancras cemeteries are associated with Camden Council. The Trent Park and Islington cemeteries, and the Islington Crematorium, are associated with Islington Council.

Scope of the data - Trent Park Cemetery

Approximately 4,200 burial register records are available, with a mixture of register scans and computerised records.

Consecrated Burials numbered 1 to 3,019, dated 13 May 1960 to 6 September 2000, are available as Burial register scans at 8 entries per scanned page.

Unconsecrated Burials numbered 1 to 481 dated 22 October 1960 to 20 November 1987, are available as Burial register scans at 8 entries per scanned page. From November 1987, Unconsecrated Burials were recorded in the Consecrated Burials register, and should be identifiable by the grave reference, where the section begins with an "N", whereas the Consecrated Burials are in graves with sections beginning with a "C".

Combined Burials numbered 3,501 onwards, from 13 September 2000, are available only as fully computerised records, i.e. there are no associated register scans.

Have used this for a little while MFM - I think it was Chris who previously mentioned it on here but it is good that you have brought it to the attention of others who have missed it.

It is a very good site if you have ancestors in that area.

Many thanks,

Dea x

The thing is, I've now found my Gt Grandparents are buried in Islington Cemetry, and I have paid to access the documents and have a few reference numbers but I'm unsure as to how I found out exactly where in the cemetry they are buried :-/

Scope of the data - Islington Cemetery - Added 03 December 2010 - Updating 16 February 2011

Around 412,000 burial register records will be available, from opening in 1854 up to 18 January 2011, with a mixture of register scans and computerised records. Of these, approximately 361,650 are available now, in all cases with register scans, detailed as follows:

Consecrated Burials numbered 1 to 180,423, dated 6 August 1854 to 1 December 1952, are available as Burial register scans at 8 entries per scanned page. Unconsecrated Burials numbered 1 to 181,222 dated 19 October 1854 to 8 January 1945, are available as Burial register scans at 8 entries per scanned page. Grave references were not available initially for these entries. They are currently being uploaded and should be available for viewing on Wednesday 16 February 2011.

Computer data only is being uploaded for later entries from no 410,265 on 14 September 2000 to 18 January 2011, and this should be available for viewing on Wednesday 16 February 2011.

Data for the period from around 1950 to 2000 is being captured currently from registers which have been recently found as part of the project.

Armed with the Grave references that I got from "deceased on line" I e mailed Islington Cemetery at [email protected] and I was sent the information I needed by return e mail to locate my families graves.

Brilliant! Well done Islington Cemetries.

Now I just have to find the time to visit :-D
