Or simply order james Stanley Taylor's marriage cert and do not specify the wife's name (its not compulsary!)

Hi Tracey. My ancestor Robert Hickling was baptised at Hickling 14.2.1791. Do you have any Hickling marriages at Hickling that may be his parents?
Many thanks.
Anne.

Hiya Tracey old pal! How come your list doesn't include Calverton??

Just in case it came under something else, let me beg your indugence.

Robert Cooper
Sarah Smith

IGI has 3 submitted things saying

married 15 May 1823
married 05 May 1823
banns 15 May 1823

which obviously doesn't make sense (banns before marriage; someone may have misunderstood a notation about marriage by reading of banns ...)

It does sound likely that someone has actually checked parish records, but I'm suspicious. There's a batch no. for Calverton 1813-1837, M046381, and they ain't in it ...

(Same deal for their kids - a bunch of submitted christening records, that aren't in the batch of extracted records for the same place/time - and that don't mention my grx2 grfather!)

Coopers and Smiths, such distinctive names. Anything you see, grateful! I'll swap for Northamptonshire marriages if you need.

The list should include calverton..mine does!! lolol but it ends at 1812

Yes, that will be my luck. ;)

The marriage batch in the IGI has Cooper marriages in 1826 and the 1830s, so you'd think if they married there, they'd be there ...

Hey janey......would it help if i told you that a Robert Cooper married Elizabeth about 1823/4 and had the following children:
Joseph 1827..William 1830 and sarah 1834..all at Calverton???????
..or just confuse the issue??

Jameycanuck..ok here we go.........Robert Cooper born Calverton 1796 son of john Cooper 1749-1809 and Elizabeth Parr b 1748

married SARAH SMITH 05.05.1823 ..she ended up in Radford Workhouse i9n 1841 and eventually died at Calverton..date unknown.

In the meantime Robert re married to Mary Ann Fallows and had six kids with her.......

Guess. ;)

My Reuben Cooper isn't findable in 1841; in 1851 he's with spouse Mary (Fallowell), whom he married in 1872. No record of his birth. Marriage certificate says father Robert. Apparent mother Sarah Cooper is living by him in a census or two. The children listed in the IGI seem to be with what seem to be her parents James and Ann, I think it is, in 1841. Except Reuben. And Sarah's nowhere herself. And Robert never existed.

Rather than hijack T's thread, I should say:

http://www.genesreunited.co.uk/boards.asp?wci=thread&tk=980840

;)

(I figured it out. That info re Mary Ann Fallows is a botch job a distant cousin of mine has done in a tree at Ancestry. Mary Ann Fallowell is the wife of Reuben Cooper, allegedly the son of Robert Cooper and Sarah Smith.)

What?! I wandered off to that other thread and was looking again for Graham's Coopers. Join me over there -- I'll take what you said and copy it there ...

Derek. Yes, he did marry Ann Beardall at Linby! He gave his birthpalce as Hickling in the 1851 & '61 censuses. Their children were baptised at Papplewick. They moved to Tameside in the 1830s.
