Anyone researching for AINSLEYs or any of the many (some 240!) variants thereof is asked to contact the AINSLEY one name study via GOONS (member 3926) using the email address ainsley AT one-name.org or by snail mail to the address given on the GOONS register. The primary variants of the name are AINSLIE, AYNSLEY, ANNESLEY, AINSLEY, ANSLEY and AINLEY, but there are numerous spelling variants and mistaken transcriptions (Ancestry lists hundreds of AMSLEYs for instance - nearly all of which are mis-transcriptions for AINSLEY). Our database currently has around 60,000 references to events related to persons of these names, and is constantly growing, and we have assembled many "treelets" of associated persons, including some having several hundred families and dating back to medieval times. The more information that can be gathered, the better the chance of fitting a new contact into a known "treelet". Obviously much data is unverified, gathered as it is from published indexes and transcriptions, and therefore we particularly welcome copies of documentation which help to verify current "guesswork".
