Find Ancestors

Hi,

Can anyone help me I'm going very slow searching :-S I am looking for my family living or dead, just for the purpose of knowledge dont worry I dont want anything apart from info.

Her's what I do know...
John Thomson Simpson born Scotland 09/04/1914
moved to Lancaster and married Mary.
His parents James Simpson ( journeyman/Tailor) and Annie Darling (not sure if Darling is maiden name or middle name) lived and died in Scotland
I believe it to be the Edinburgh side, I know the name Castorphine from my childhood but no more.

I should know more I used to visit Scotland as a small child, however I do remember the name Sandy.

If any of this means anything to anyone, I would be really grateful if you would contact me.

There is a marriage in 1938 in Lancaster giving Mary's surname as Johnson and a possible child to this couple called James born in 1938.

if you want to go further back with the Scottish line, you will need to use the scotlandspeople website. It is pay-to-view site not a subscription site but very reasonable and you can download images of original BMD parish record entries. Scottish BMDs give quite a lot of info.

"Sandy" I would think referred to an Alexander (or possibly hair colour!)

There is no marriage of a James Simpson to a Darling in Scotland so I think John's birth certificate would be needed.

Jackie - used a few credits on SP.

Annie Darling Simpson aged 65 years died 19 Feb. 1941. Her usual residence was Corstorphine. She was the widow of James Simpson a Tailor. Her father was John Bell a House Painter (master) and her mother Margaret Darling Bell ms. Mackey (difficult to read). Both Deceased. The informant was her son James Simpson of the same address.
