PMSL @Joy ....if only I could get in to my neighbours :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D

I use Compo Antihormigas kills out right stops them coming back to that area and doesn´t harm my dogs.
But worth remembering about cinnamon.

I saw another tip for getting rid of ants.

Polenta :-D

The claim is...... ants take the polenta back to the nest, they eat it, can't digest it...... and die.

I've mixed up polenta, icing sugar & bicarb soda......... it's outside, waiting for the ants.

I've been experimenting :-D

The metho/water/cinnamon mixture has another ingredient........ a squirt of dishwashing liquid......it helps the cinnamon stay put!

The handrails on our deck are now speckled...... but NO ants :-D

I'll also try GlasgowLass's tip with the bicarb & icing sugar.......... if I can find a spot where the jar won't get rained on.

I went outside this morning and saw one big black ant scurrying across the ant freeway :-(

I squirted the water/metho/cinnamon spray and he ran off..... then fell off the rail..... and didn't move!

I methed up his day.

I've always used 'Nippon' for the bustards that live in my skirting board, but the 'natural' methods mean I would only have what look like small spillages of 'stuff' around the kitchen, (no change there then!) rather than barricades so the cats don't get it :-D :-D

I used to do the same with borax and sugar mixed when I lived in Spain and the ants we're huge.
They go for the sugar and take the mixture back to the nest
Found it worked.
They say you put a line of chalk around and they won't cross the line. But not sure this worked as well as the borax. :-S

Re- Getting Rid Of Ants:
Someone posted this on my FB recently.....

Mix 3/4 tbs of icing sigar with 3/4 tbs of bicarbonate of soda.
Split it into in a few jam jar lids (or similar flat container) and leave it where the ants are.

They can't tell the difference between sugar and the bicarb.... which kills them!

There's another thread on here about orchids, Bernie gave me some advice about getting rid of black mould.

I've mixed up some cinnamon in the bottle of 50/50 water & methylated spirits & squirted it around the deck and on plants that have ants and/or mould.

Either it will work or the plants will die :-( but...... so far so good!

:-D

Sorry wasn't ignoring ,have been at the vets from 9.55 till past 12 for Mirabelles daily medication. Was last in a crowded waiting room as they weren't open yesterday . Have to go to the main vets tomorrow and Monday as she has to be medicated daily and it can't be done at home . Been 7 weeks now on a daily basis .

Anyway thanks Joeva not sure if talc would be ok to the tortoise though. Harold is over 50 years old and wouldn't want to do anything that be a danger to him
